WAYNE BRANSTETTER
Years in coaching- 28 years, 5 years at Channel Islands H.S. in Oxnard, CA, 23 years at Poway H.S. in Poway, CA. Dual Meet coaching record 281 wins, 3 losses, 1 tie. Held California state dual meet record of 15-0 consecutive dual meet wins for 17 years. California State Champions- 1986, 1999. Masters Championships- 17 titles. CIF Championships- 29 titles. League Championships- 27 titles. State Champions- 4 individual State Champs. Individual State Runner-ups- 12. Total State Placers- 54. Total CIF Individual Champions- 104. Total Masters Individual Champions- 52. Most Top 5 finishes in History of the State Tournament- 2nd only to Clovis H.S. California State Record for most qualifiers for the State Meet in a season- 12 qualifiers (qualified 12 wrestlers 3 separate times). California Coaches Association- Coach of the Year- 1993. National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Association- NWICA ÒWrestling Coach of the YearÓ- 1995. Nation Wrestling Coaches Association-NWCA ÒCalifornia Coach of the YearÓ- 1995, 1996. National High School Coaches Association- NHSCA- Ò1998 National Coach of the YearÓ. National Wrestling Hall of Fame- Stillwater, Oklahoma- Inducted February 4, 1997.
BRUCE BURNETT
Wrestling: Wrestled for North Bakersfield High School. He was a 2 time South Yosemite League Champion and placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Central Section Championships. Wrestled for Bakersfield College. He was a 2 time state champion with a 55-3 record and the stateÕs outstanding wrestler in 1970. Wrestled for Idaho State University. He was undefeated in dual meets in 1971 and 1972 and was the Big Sky Conference Champion and MIWA champion. Coaching: He coached 12 years at Meridian High School in Meridian, Utah where his teams compiled a 142-13-2 dual meet record with 4 state championships and 5 runner-up honors. The Idaho Coaches Association voted him coach of the year 7 times. In 1987 he was inducted into the Idaho State University Athletic Hall of Fame. He was an assistant coach at Oklahoma State University. USA Wrestling: He has served as Assistant Director of Programs National Developmental Coach for USA and coached numerous world and national teams at all levels. He served as USA WrestlingÕs full time national freestyle coach since 1992 and was an integral member of the coaching staff for the 1996 U.S. Olympic Team. He took the Us Naval Academy head coaching position in for the 2000-01 year.
DOMINIC COROLLO
Nick wrestled for Redondo H.S from 1961-64. He was a three-time league and divisional champion, placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the Southern Section CIF. He was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler three-time, Most Outstanding Football Player twice and Athlete of the Year his senior year. He was 1st and 3rd in the AAU State Championships and was a member of the 1964 Cultural Exchange Team to Japan. He wrestled for El Camino Junior College in 1965-66 where he was a two time California State JC Champion and voted the Outstanding Wrestler at the State Tournament. He place2nd and 3rd in the AAU Greco Roman National Championships and 3rd in AAU Freestyle National Championships. He was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler and Athlete of the Year at El Camino College. In 1967-68, he wrestled at Adams State where he won two NAIA National Championships and was 1st and 2nd in the NCAA Division I Championships. A four-time All American, He was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler and Athlete of the Year at Adams State. Nick wrestled for Athletes in Action and won a Gold Medal in the Pam American Games, was 1st place in four National Championships, 2nd in three National Championships and was a 17 time All American. He has been inducted in the following Hall of Fames: El Camino, Adams State and National NAIA.
BILL GRANT

Honor Coach. 1993 C.A.P.H.E.R.D. State PE/Coaching Award. 1997 Cal Coaches Assn. Wrestling Coach of the Year. 1997 National Coaches Assn. Region Coach of the Year. Director Monterey Clinic of Champions 23 years. Editor and Publisher ÒCalifornia WrestlerÓ 25 years. President CA. H.S. Wrestling Coaches Assn. 7 years. CIF Wrestling Advisory Committee 5 years. CA H of F coaches rep 2 years.
ED JALLI
Considered as the father of wrestling in the San Joaquin Valley. He started wrestling at Hughson High School in 1948-49 season. He hosted many tournaments, clinics and instructional sessions throughout the Valley to promote wrestling. He ended his career at Turlock High School here his teams won 7 league and 7 straight San Joaqiun Section titles in his ten years of coaching at Turlock, 1957 67. Ed coached wrestling, football, and track at Turlock. He was also an aquatic specialist and conducted after school swimming programs. Ed was one of the founders and past president of the Northern California Wrestling Coaches association. He was also the the founder of the Southern Section of the San Joaquin County High School Wrestling Officials association. He helped establish the first Northern California High School Championships and hosted them at Hughson and Turlock High School.
MIKE REMER
four year letterman at castro valley high school (59-61), team captain and two time league champion. Two time cif section champion, northern california invitational runner-up his senior year (no state tournament). Voted the most outstanding wrestler. Two-year letterman at chabot college. Two time conference champion and twice the outstanding wrestler. Two time state jc champion and twice team captain at chabot. Two-year letterman at cal poly. Conference champion and also runner-up. Two time college division national place winners and all american, placing 3rd, and then winning the national championship. Ncaa university division 4th place and all american. Coached at pacific high school 10 years (record 70-10), california high school 9 years (record 60-15), and has coached the past four years at miramonte high school (34-1).
JIM ROOT
Jim wrestled at Hayward H.S. and Cal Poly. He received his MA degree from San Francisco State. Jim wrestled for the Olympic Club (1958 65), coached at Westmont H.S., Campbell, Ca (1964 72) and has been the wrestling coach at West Valley College since 1972. Jim placed 2nd in the Northern California H.S. Championships in 1957, placed twice in the Pac-10 Championships, participated in the Final Olympic Trials (1956-60), and placed third in the Open Championships in 1960. He coached 2 High School league championship teams and 2 Northern California High School Champions at Westmont. Jim coached 9 State JC Champions and 28 Northern California JC Champions, with his teams placing in the top ten at the State JC Tournament 11 times. He was the co-founder of the California State High School Wrestling Championships. In 2002, Jim became the second President of the California Wrestling Hall of Fame`and is a charter member of the organization. He has also been active in the USA Wrestling International Exchanges.
BOB SMITH
Bob originally came from Colorado. His first teaching and coaching assignment was at Grants Pass H.S. in Oregon from 1951-53. His teams were the Southern Oregon District Champions for two years and then Bob moved to Oregon Technical Institute where he coached for two years, winning the Oregon Collegiate Championships both years. He coached at San Bernardino Junior College from1955 -73. He produced 22 individual State Champions, 9 NCAA All-Americans, 6 National AAU All Americans, and 3 Olympic Team Members. He coached 7 State JC Championship teams, 14 Conference Championship Teams, 14 Regional Championships , and a dual meet record at San Bernardino was 96-0. His overall collegiate dual match record vs all college and university competition was 183-15-2. His teams dominated the early years of the Cal Poly JC Tournament. He was one of the founding fathers of the California State JC Tournament. He also organized the first officials association in Southern California, initiated the foreign exchange program with Japan and organized and hosted the Regional Olympic Trials. Bob has also been very successful with his wrestling clinics and video series on defense and counter wrestling.
